When you submit the report, it goes to one of the following routes:

If you are a student, it goes to the appropriate Student Services team, who reviews the report and assigns it to a relevant member of the student support team or the student conduct team, where appropriate.

If you are a staff member, the report goes directly to the Human Resources Partnering Team.

Reports are assigned on how you identify your connection to the university. You can state if there is anyone whom you do not want to see your report. Reports are confidential, and only specific and necessary individuals will be assigned to your report; in most cases, this is one or two people.

If you would like to request a specific responder, you can; however, we can’t always guarantee they will be available.

If there’s someone you would rather not speak to, then you can state that when reporting.

If you don’t have a preference, you can also select ‘I don’t know/no preference’ and an administrator will assign whomever is most appropriate and available.

Here is further information about each of the responder roles you can select when reporting:

Student Wellbeing

The student wellbeing team is here to help you talk through what you have experienced. They can offer pastoral support and guidance on academic mitigations should you need them. They can signpost to internal and external support services.

Student Resolution and Casework

The Student Resolution and Casework team manages formal ‘Stage Two’ grievances under the Student Complaints Procedure – complaints against the University that either could not be resolved informally, or which are particularly serious. They also advise on or triage to alternative channels for resolution if the complaints procedure is not appropriate, including student disciplinary processes.

Equality and Inclusion Team

This team can offer support and training to teams across the university. They do not offer 1:1 case work support, but can be requested through Report + Support to deliver culture interventions which will benefit your entire cohort or team.

My Head of Department/Director

If you wish to make a report directly to your head of department or director, we recommend having a conversation with them directly if you can. If you do not have a direct working relationship with them, we can connect you to them through this platform.

Human Resources Business Partner

The HR business partnering team are experienced advisors that can support you with a wide range of employment issues. This team can offer advice and support if you think you’ve been the target of bullying, harassment, discrimination or a hate crime. HRBPs can support informal resolution options for addressing staff behaviour in addition to providing information and guidance on formal action, such as formal investigations and subsequent disciplinary action

Employee Relations

If you wish to raise a concern about a staff member's conduct and would like the matter to be dealt with formally, you can speak with the employee relations team about raising a grievance. Grievances will be investigated, and if there’s a case to answer will go to a disciplinary panel.

Security

If you are a student, member of staff or a visitor and you are concerned about your or someone else’s safety, you can contact the security team. If you have been the victim of a crime and would like support, including reporting to the police, specialists in the campus security team can support you in this.
